June 4: Floors!

The installation of the new floors started today and they look great (and will look even better once the final coat is applied).

May 31: Kristen and the Kids Won

Well, there is a giant hole in the backyard... I fought it as long as I could but Kristen and kids pretty much ignored me so it looks like we are putting in an in-ground trampoline.

May 20: It's Coming Together

There have been workers from all trades busy inside and outside the house this past week, which translates into lots of progress (which is good thing since we have to be out of our rental and back in our new house in five weeks).

Finally picked a paint color... back of the house painted today.

 

Living room ceiling tongue-and-groove painted.

 

Kitchen is coming together.

Kid's bath getting tiled.

 

Master bath getting tiled.

 

The boxes of fixtures, fans, lights, etc. are starting to pile up in the rental.

 

May 13: The Yard is Bald

Nate was pretty accurate when I got home from work and he told me the yard was bald. With the help of a tractor, in just a few hours they scraped away the yard, hedges, fence and some trees to make way for the new hard/landscape.

May 4: Over-thinking Paint

Things are coming together: drywalling is complete, ceiling work is just about finished, floors have been selected, and exterior and interior painting will begin this week. 

After weeks of looking at floor samples, we finally landed on the right one.

April 17: Siding & Walls... Continued

The siding is finished so we are moving on to picking paint colors for the exterior... and the drywall is getting more perfected each day.

 

 

 

 

April 16: Maybe We Should Have Added a Rooftop Deck to the Plans?

The roofers started work yesterday and Nate took a trip up top to inspect the progress...
 

April 13: Walls, Finally!

There has been a lot of progress now that the plumbing, electrical and media wiring has all been completed. Over the last few days (including a Saturday where there were two crews working all day) they've almost finished all the exterior siding (which looks yellow due to the primer but will be painted light gray) and have made a lot of progress with hanging the drywall.

April 5: Wires, Windows and Wrap

It's been a while since there was any real physical progress to share... the last few weeks have been all about plumbing and electrical. However, we did get the windows in and the house is just starting to get "wrapped" and prepped for the siding and drywall.

 

 

 

March 11: Just Starting to Take Shape

It's been a few days since I have been to the house and there is progress: the ceiling in the living room/kitchen is coming together, master closet is built out and the shower is getting framed.

The dirt is finally added back in to the area that was excavated for the retaining walls/front deck.

March 5: Yawn...

Nothing too exciting happening today... just backfilling the dirt removed to put in the retaining walls with fresh, clean gravel. Hopefully since it appears to be blocking the porta-potty, this task will happen quickly.
 

February 27: Ready for the Rain

Yes, we need the rain but we also need the remodel to keep progressing. There better be some work going on under those tarps...

February 24: Beams, Boring Beams...

I know the beams serve an important purpose - and because they are enormous, they probably took a long time to install - but I think we expected to see a little more progress after being away for the last four days.

 

 

 

February 17: Off With the Roof

On President's Day, we (and the rest of the neighborhood) woke up to hearing the roof being pulled off the house. Nice to see a crew working on a holiday.

February 13: We Are Getting Framed!

It's good to see some off the structure finally taking shape. The last couple of days the framing started coming together: the new addition to the kitchen, laundry room and mud room, the pantry, the start of the back dormer, the master closet and the addition to the front bathroom. Here's to hoping they keep the pace up next week...
